West Hills Giant Joins Blue Grass Lineup

keeneland start

“He’s coming to the (Toyota) Blue Grass (G1),” trainer John Terranova said Monday morning of West Hills Giant after the New York-bred colt worked five furlongs in 1:00.47 over a fast Belmont Park training track.

“Tonja (Terranova’s wife and assistant trainer) said he worked the last three-eighths in 35. You need to see that little something when you are going to take on better horses.”

Owned by Long Island Racing Stables, Sunrise Stables and Gina Bentivegna, West Hills Giant finished second to Vyjack in the Gotham Stakes (G3) in his most recent start on March 2.

“He is leaving there today and will be here tomorrow,” Terranova said. “Jose Espinoza will ride him in the (Toyota) Blue Grass.”

What the Nation is saying about West Hills Giant Joins Blue Grass Lineup...

Late bloomers are usually, however, those without the seasoning (5 races minimm) you want at Churchill on the first Saturday in May.
You know NOTHING is off the board as a possibility until EACH and EVERY ONE of these colts have tried 9 furlongs at graded stakes levels.
To early to be picking any derby horses always a late bloomer in the bunch and this year their are alot of great colts! Patients is very important I learned that when I bet and won the 1998 derby with charismatic. Not only did I hit the win place show but I also hit the triple and also in the Preakness when he was 8to1.
West Hills Giant should win this and make it to the derby
