Weekly Power Ranking Report - 8-30-2011

HRN Horse Racing Nation logo
There aren't too many big changes in the active power ranking this week, so I thought I'd go over another list on the site.

But first, here's the Top 10 Active Horses List:

Goldikova #1, Blind Luck #2, Frankel #3 - not much movement among the top horses.

Even after his powerful performance in the Pacific Classic, Acclamation could only manage a #15 ranking this week.

Three Year Olds Moving Up

Frankel tops the 3 year old ranking, with Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom right behind.

Uncle Mo's comeback in the King's Bishop fell a scant nose short but it was enough to show the world he was still the same speedy Mo, and he is #3.

Stay Thirsty has blossomed this summer into a force to be reckoned with in the 3 year old division. Mo's "cousin" has dominated at Saratoga, and defeated a strong field of his peers in the Travers. With another dominating performance in the Jockey Club Gold Cup, Stay Thirsty could overtake Animal Kingdom and Uncle Mo as top US-based 3yo.

Always-game Shackleford is #5 - his Travers performance was a combination of distance limitations and the stress of his year-long campaign.

European invader Treasure Beach ranks #6 with his score in the Secretariat.

Nehro and Premier Pegasus follow in 7th & 8th respectively, though neither has run in the summer 3yo stakes and no future races are planned for them.

Coil dropped to 9th after his non-performance in the Travers.

Rattlesnake Bridge moved up to the top 10 after his 2nd place to Stay Thirsty.

Others moving up - The Factor came back with style in the Pat O'Brien against older horses, yet he sits just out of the Top 10 at #14.

Caleb's Posse, King's Bishop winner over Uncle Mo, is incredibly at #48. To Honor And Serve, tops on the KY Derby contenders list earlier this year,  is at #47.

There is still a lot of racing left this season, and as you can see, there's plenty of time for more movers and shakers in the Top 3 year old list. Remember - vote each week for the top horses, your favorites, and those who have run impressively (or flopped). Every vote counts and the more people who vote, the more accurate the Power Ranking!

I'm still amazed Golidkova is #1 after her 2 losses.
BL over Frankel? wow is all i have to say.
There rankings are pointless, since everyone doesn't vote the right way.

That's a surprise-Acclamation is currently #7 in International Ratings for 7-9F and #11 for 4yr+. He is the highest rated US horse currently, except for dirt surface and that goes to The Factor, followed by Animal Kingdom, Rocket Man (SIN), Smiling Tiger and Acclamation (Racing Post)...
