Wednesday’s Del Mar Pick 6 & Late Pick 4 Tickets – August 20

Del Mar Weekly Recap (Aug 13-17)

Day 20 (Aug 13): Polytrack surface seemed to play fair (1 wire job – 8f). A stalker (8f) and a gate-to-wire runner (8f) made up the two turf winners (rail at 30 feet). Mario Gutierrez had his mount placed first in the Wednesday opener and won the 2nd race without any help from the stewards.

Day 21 (Aug 14): Patient runners won the bulk of the races on Polytrack (1 wire job – 5f). Off the pace runners (8f, 8.5f) captured both turf races (rail at 30 feet). Tyler Baze booted home a pair and reached the 2,000 win plateau with Kate’s Event in the 3rd race! Mike Smith and Paddy Gallagher teamed up for two turf wins. Ted West saddled two winners on the day and Baze rode both.

Day 22 (Aug 15): Three wire-to-wire sprint winners on Polytrack (6f, 6f, 5.5f). The turf rails were down, and the two flat mile races were won by a stalker and a pace setter. Istanford ran them off their feet in the grassy Sandy Blue Handicap.

Day 23 (Aug 16): Three more wire-to-wire winners on Polytrack (5.5f, 6f, 8f). Rafael Bejarano and Dryaden Van Dyke both booted home a pair. Three turf races (rails down) with patient runners capturing each (9f, 8f, 9f).

Day 24 (Aug 17): Three more wire-to-wire winners on Polytrack (8f, 6f, 6f). A stalker (8.5f) and a closer (8f) made up the two turf winners (turf rails down). Rafael Bejarano, Agapito Delgadillo, and Mike Smith each booted home a pair. Ron Ellis and Jerry Hollendorfer both saddled two winners.
