WV Derby Taking Shape

2 May 2009: Mine That Bird and jockey Calvin Borel score the 50-1 upset victory in the 135th running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.
Organized horse racing in West Virginia dates back at least 223 years, but no horse who has won the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) has ever competed in the Mountaineer State before.
