Smart Choice Stable’s 3-year-old filly Ultimate Class went
wire-to-wire to break her maiden over the Gulfstream Park
turf course on Jan. 15 for trainer George Weaver. She comes back Friday as one
of the choices in the featured eighth race, an allowance going one mile over
the course.
Jockey Jeremy Rose gets a return call on Ultimate Class in
the field of nine with two others entered ‘main track only’ by their
connections. Ultimate Class is a Kentucky-bred daughter of During purchased for
a modest $20,000 at the OBS August yearling sales. She finished fifth over a
‘muddy’ track going seven furlongs at Philadelphia
Park
on Nov. 1 in her only start before winning at Gulfstream.
Trainer Frank Alexander sends Keep It a Secret, a contender
he owns himself, with jockey Javier Castellano named to ride. Purchased for
$50,000 at the OBS February 2-year-old sales, the chestnut daughter of Thunder
Gulch won her only start going five furlongs on the main track at Belmont
Park
on June 17.
Also certain to attract support is Waterville Lake Stable’s
Strike It Rich with Joe Bravo aboard for trainer Christophe Clement. The
roan/gray daughter of Unbridled’s Song was a $350,000 Saratoga
yearling purchase and was impressive breaking her maiden on turf at Calder on
Nov. 22 by four lengths. She came back in the ‘off the turf’ Sweetest Chant
Stakes here on Jan. 17, finishing fifth to Sassy Temper.
Completing the field for Friday’s race are Dixiana Stables’
Sparky’s Dream, Kent Desormeaux; Alex Rankin’s Sea Road, Cornelio Velasquez; Galloping
Acres Farm’s Star of the Town, Luis Arango; Joseph Arango’s For Terina, Luis
Saez; Kevin Dole’s Tres Leches, Manuel Aguilar; and William Clifton, Jr.’s
Kitty in a Tizzy, Rajiv Maragh.
Lori and George Hall’s Never Quicker and Homewrecker
Stable’s Aregulationhottie are the ‘main track only’ entrants.
