Jockey Tyler Baze has a "informal" meeting with Del
Mar stewards Friday morning after refused to take a breathalyzer
test Thursday and was removed from all of his mounts, track
officials announced.
Baze was also involved in a minor car accident Thursday
afternoon and was taken to Scripps La Jolla, where he was treated
and released, according to a hospital spokesperson.
The 28-year-old Baze likely won't ride the remainder of the
meeting, which ends Wednesday. He was scheduled to ride six horses
on Thursday's eight-race program.
"I'm open-minded," said steward Scott Chaney of Friday's meeting
with Baze, "but I can't imagine anything happening."
