Victoria Ashford’s Triumph and Song, away alertly and quickly in command, made the pace throughout in Sunday’s $49,000 allowance and $40,000 optional claiming six-furlong sprint at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots and continued willingly late for a 1 1/4-length score.

Ridden by Jamie Theriot and trained by Bret Calhoun, Triumph and Song paid $5.80, $3 and $2.60 and accomplished the distance in 1:09.60 after setting early fractions of 21.90 and 45.44. He increased his career earnings to $93,716 with his fourth win in seven career starts.

Gary and Mary West’s Make a Fortune rallied in the late stages to be clearly second best, paying $2.80 and $2.10 while finishing 1 3/4-lengths in front of Courtlandt Farms’ Perregaux, who returned $4.40.
