
I think you're jumping the gun a bit by saying that it wasn't a surprise to anyone. Just because a horse goes off at short odds does not guarantee them a win. Personally, I was not entirely convinced that he could win after such a long layoff, so I was pleasantly surprised when he did.

Like Matt said, layoffs don't seem to be a problem anymore. That's 3 horses this weekend that have won off significant layoffs.

I just watched it, actually. Impressive how he ran those splits being held so hard. Horse had plenty left.
