San Diego Handicap winner Tres Borrachos worked seven furlongs in 1:26 4/5 Friday morning under Rafael
Bejarano for trainer Marty Jones in preparation for a possible start in the
Grade I, $1 million Pacific Classic on Sunday, August 28.
Jones said he had the 6-year-old
Ecton Park gelding covering the last quarter mile in :23 4/5 and galloping out
a mile in “1:40 and change.”
Jones said he considered the
exercise a positive step regarding a Pacific Classic decision.
“It was (encouraging), he worked
really well,” Jones said. “We’ll see how he comes out of this, and he’ll still
have one more work before the race.”
