Arthur’s Tale, runner-up to Toby’s Corner in the Grade 1
Resorts World New York Casino Wood Memorial last time out, worked five furlongs
in 1:01.63 this morning as his connections debate whether to start the
Bernardini colt in Saturday’s Grade 1 Travers.
“It’s
kind of day by day,” said trainer Tom Albertrani. “The distance would suit him;
it’s an ideal distance for him. It’s just a matter if he’s up to it. He’s only
had a few works leading up to the race. But he’s doing well, and if I get all
the right signs he’s doing well I’d be encouraged to run him.”
The
work was the fifth since Arthur’s Tale returned to training on July 28 at
Saratoga .
After
breaking his maiden at Aqueduct on December 2 in his fourth start, Arthur’s Tale
was fourth to Monzon in the Count Fleet and fourth to Toby’s Corner in the
Whirlaway before winning an optional claimer on March 23.
Overall, the bay colt, a $750,000 purchase at the 2009 Fasig-Tipton
Saratoga Selected Yearling sales, is 2-1-1 from eight starts with earnings of
$277,070.
