Veteran trainer Craig Lewis was confident heading
into the 2011 Fairplex Park meeting. He knew he had some live horses in
the right spots, but he didn't dare dream he'd experience the type of
success he has through the first five days of the 13-day meet.
Heading into today's 10-race card, Lewis has six victories from 10 starters. Two of the non-winners finished second.
"I would be lying if I said I expected them all to win. You
never say that, but they all were ready to go and had trained
forwardly," Lewis said of his first five winners, two of which paid
healthy mutuels of $18.60 and $13.60.
The other winners returned $6, $5.20 and $4.40 as the early
part of the meet rekindled memories of Lewis' glory years at Fairplex.
