Track Photographers Deserve Our Recognition

Surfing USA
Photo: Ciara Bowen

We all know Barbara Livingston, one of the greatest track photographers. You can find her on the rail at any racetrack. You name the track, she's been there. A friend of mine has been saddened because her photography is not recognized. Her name is Ciara Bowen. You can find her on Facebook at Ciara Bowen or on Instagram at Intothestretch. Just like Livingston, she is at many racetracks taking photos of the horses. When I saw one of her photos for the first time, my jaw dropped open. She is an amazing photographer. She deserves as much credit as any photographer out there. Please read this and help her get recognized. She is the sweetest person ever and she has phenomenal photography.

These people have a ton of work to do. Fellow at Hasting would bring 150 people and order 8 x 10's for all of them, track photographer Trevor loved him
Why is she saddened? This was probably the shortest and least detailed written piece I have ever seen. Hate to be the downer here, but wouldn't a little moire information be in order here. Where does she live, who does she shoot for, why is it that she feels saddened. It only seems fair and respectful to fill in these blanks for her.
  • csi.bowen · I don't even know who wrote it, but if they had asked for the information I would have gladly supplied it. I'll just answer you here, though, since you mentioned it... · 626 days ago
  • csi.bowen · I live in Morrisville, NY and currently shoot for nobody. My "sadness" that the writer is talking about is probably that fact, but... I'm not quite sure. · 626 days ago
I thought the photos were nice but Barbara Livingston has been doing this a VERY long time and i'm sorry but I have never seen nor will I ever see photos as good as her's.
  • csi.bowen · Honestly, I would be disturbed if you - or anyone - said that my photos were as good as Barbara's. I've had the pleasure of becoming friends with her, and would NEVER compare my work to hers. · 626 days ago
I have helled out in the winner's circle catching the winner past the wire...FUN stuff with the new rapid fire high pixelated cameras
If you want more details, go to her sites =D I met Ciara a few months ago, and her photography truly rocks!!
Ciara Bowen is my home slice. :'D
Kind of short to be an article but the Honor Code photo made ot ok
Not only are Ciara's photos great, but she is a great person and I'm blessed to call her a friend! I am so happy to see her receive some recognition here on HRN. It won't be long before everyone associates her name with fantastic racing photos. You go, Ciara!
