Tongue-N-Beak

The few that are faithful to my blog posts may remember a Tweeterview I did with Shanghai Bobby posted here last February. Another followed with Goldencents on Twitter.

Well, once you've made that leap to the animal kingdom, there is no telling where you may end up. So here I give you my tweeterview with the Spa Infield Goose, who spits out witty remarks throughout the entire racing season. The 'Goose has honked out about 3,000 tweets and has close to 600 followers, so he's no joke. Tongue-n-beak, yes, but certainly an independent waterfowl dedicated to the game.

Without further ado the transcript of tweets and nonsense that was my tweeterview….

There's a lot written about horses this time of year at Saratoga. What do u know about these 4-legged creatures? Insights into 'capping 'em?

Well, as my followers know, I love all the horses. I try my best to follow the racing forms & listen to the humans.

I've learned a lot about the owners, trainers & jockeys. I try to use that when I handicap. Even with all that, I'm not a great capper...

Although I did win my Breeders Cup handicapping pool contest.

Insights: always bet on Shackleford. But since he's retired, have some drinks & go with your gut. Don't second-guess yourself.

How do you lay ur bets down? Runners?

iPeck on my iPad. The wifi at the Spa has been a big help!

What makes Saratoga infield/track a better home for geese and better place for horse racing?

Well, most tracks don't have ponds. Have you been to Churchill or Pimlico? Good places to party, bad places to swim. And you know I love a party

The tracks in Florida that have ponds have alligators, I hear. Come on! Not hanging with alligators. I'm too tasty-looking.

As for racing, it's like summer camp for horses! You can't help but feel good there, and I'm sure the horses feel it too.

Ever thought of branching out into public relations? Stand up comedian? On track handicapper?

I consider myself an ambassador of the Spa. For example, when I go places I stow away in a Saratoga duffle bag. (Giveaway in 2011)

I might tweet some picks this year. I prefer to think of it as handiwinging.

Best advice for someone visiting Saratoga for the first time?

Spend more than one day. Get to the track early, park by Oklahoma track (so you'll see the horses), bring Martinis to the goose

After the races are over, walk down Broadway, taste the different spring waters

Since u mentioned partying and drinking cocktails - favorite drink & places to drink?

Humans like Siro's. they make an excellent martini there. I don't like to drink and fly, so I drink in the Travers canoe.

And by the way, I have apologized to both Alpha & Golden Ticket for the states of their canoes. I am the , after all.

I hear "the canoe" is place to be. Is it like a frat house or more a bachelor pad?

Frat house, I think. I hold righteous parties in the canoes. All the birds show up. I've tried to get some horses to show up. I just tried..

..to get Palace Malice to go to a concert with me at SPAC but he was worried about his drug test. ;) I get it. They have serious jobs.

Also, most of them are, like, 3 or 4. They should be sleeping & growing, not hanging out with avian troublemakers.

Now that Shackleford has retired, any horses at Spa in the running to take his place as top goose?

I love the older horses. I want to ride on Royal Delta's back sometime. Wise Dan is a thoroughbred honey badger. I love the fillies.

I think Princess of Sylmar is pretty special. I also really like Palace Malice & Shanghai Bobby. I'm not smitten with anybody like I was...

...with Shackleford. I loved Questing, too. So, my dance card is open. Looking for a horse hero to love.

I'll be hanging with Princess Sylmar on Saturday, anything you want me to tell her about you?

Squee! OMG! You're so lucky! Tell her she's got the infield goose bets. Also, she's invited to all my parties. & congrats on the Oaks!

Finally, where or how can your fans/followers find you during Saratoga season? You know you've got quite a flock following you?

*blushes* Everyone can find me on twitter . People not on twitter should just get on twitter.

Also, get out your binoculars! I'm in the pond pretty much all the time. Sometimes I chase the photographers. It's all in good fun.

Thanks for taking time out of your busy social life to tweet with me. Cheers!

Thanks! This was my first press interview! It was fun!
