Today's Derby contender works included a five furlong move from Sway Away. That was his first published work since a flying place finish behind The Factor in the 7f San Vicente on Feb 20. Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf hero Pluck continues to inch closer to his first start of the year for Graham Motion.      

 

#14 Sway Away – Went 5f in 1:02.80 (47/50) at Santa Anita.

#38 Pluck – Breezed 4f (turf) in :49 (10/18) at Palm Meadows.

#91 Uncle Sam – 4f in :49 (6/10) at Hollywood Park.

Notes:

 

Positive Response and Twinspired head a field of nine in Saturday’s John Battaglia Memorial at Turfway Park. The $100,000 event is the final local prep for the March 26 Spiral Stakes (G3). Dialed In will prep for the Florida Derby in the 4th race at Gulfstream Park on March 6. The 9f optional claiming event attracted a field of five.

Sway Away was very impressive and I look forward to him running again. I'm also dying to see how Pluck is doing. I loved him in the BC and am hoping he's maturing into a strong handsome race horse.
