Today's Derby contender works featured a four furlong drill from Delta Jackpot hero Gourmet Dinner. He was last seen finishing 3rd in the Holy Bull Stakes and has more than enough graded earnings to make the Derby field.    

 

#13 Gourmet Dinner – 4f in :47.60 (2/29) at Gulfstream Park.  

#64 Cool Blue Red Hot – Bullet 5f in 1:00.60 (1/12) at Palm Meadows.

#70 Lumberyard Jack – 5f in 1:01.20 (3/17) at Fair Grounds.

#103 Lauburu – Best of 18 bullet turf breeze in :48.40 at Palm Meadows.

#107 Yankee Passion - 5f bullet in 1:01.10 (1/44) at Oaklawn. Southwest is next.

Notes:

 

Tapizar has a bone chip in his knee and is off the Derby trail. The first Kentucky Derby Future Wager pool kicks off noon (ET) Friday (Feb 18) and runs through 6 p.m. Sunday (Feb 20). The main Kentucky Derby preps this holiday weekend are the Feb 19 Risen Star (G2), the Feb 20 San Vicente (G2), and the Feb 21 Southwest (G3).

Yankee Passion turned in a strong work at Oaklawn Park. It appears that Larry Jones has a contender for the Southwest Stakes.
Very nice work by Gourmet Dinner. I think people are overlooking him way too much. Last race was deceptively good.
