Tizway Top US Older Male In Power Ranking

HRN Horse Racing Nation logo
Tizway won his way back into the Top 10, and the top to the older male division, with his score in the Whitney!

Top 10 Active Horses 8/9/2011

There wasn't much movement this week among the Top 10, with Goldikova and Frankel still secure in the top 2 spots. Blind Luck and Havre de Grace follow and look to take their rivalry to the 7th level in the Personal Ensign.

Animal Kingdom remains the leader of the US 3-year-old class at number 5, despite a stealth move by Coil into the Top 10 to number 7. A competitive Travers will make or break the Derby winner's hold here.

So You Think is in at number 6, while Black Caviar is in 8th.

The aforementioned Tizway breaks back into the Top 10 at number 9, a low showing despite being the only multiple Grade 1 winner among the older male division.

Twirling Candy hangs in at number 10, looking for a win in the Pacific Classic in two weeks.

Knocking On The Door

Turf males take center stage this weekend in the Arlington Million and Sword Dancer. Two very good former Top 10 males will try to regain a spot at the top: Gio Ponti (14) in the Million and Teaks North (13) in the Sword Dancer.

Brilliant sprinter Euroears (30) could move up with a win in the Bing Crosby.

Two Year Olds To Watch

Top 10 2 Year Old Derby Contenders 8/9/2011

Majestic City got some more love this week from voters, giving him back the #1 spot among juveniles. Overdriven is at 2, followed by exciting maiden winner Secret Circle.

The Best Pal at Del Mar was a coming out party for Creative Cause (4), a son of Giant's Causeway who looks like he wants to go long.

Power World (8) and Jack's In The Deck (10) are stakes-placed in recent starts who could step up bigtime before November.

Each week new two year olds make their debuts, so this list will change many times before the Breeders' Cup. But remember to vote each week for you favorites and stay tuned here for the Power Ranking Report!!

Older Comments about Tizway Top US Older Male In Power Ranking...

As much as I love Tizway (being the son of a Tiznow), I just think he needs to prove a lot more than the Whitney and the Met Mile to be the horse to beat. Unfortunately, he is considered the horse to beat, currently, due to the older male division lacking some stars. If he wins the JCGC, then he should be merited with respect, but that's a big "IF" factor, not saying he will win the JCGC. That race is in two months time, and a lot of days inbetween for anything to happen.
JC's Pride should be in the top 10 2yos.
Pretty sad group. IMO
