The Fox of Belair's 1930 sweep

Gallant Fox
A strapping bay colt with a flaming red hood on his head, his fluent and devouring stride made it seem as if he was floating across the ground. The first Kentucky Derby winner to break from a starting gate, Gallant Fox easily swept the 1930 Triple Crown. What the Nation is saying about The Fox of Belair's 1930 sweep...

that is passed over course not past as the spell check failed me
The strange one in this colts history was his Travers. Whichone had been the two year old champ but missed the first part of the Triple Crown due to an injury but had come back to run third in the Belmont....All eyes were on the rematch at Saratoga and in deference to their combined talent, only two other colts came out in a quagmire to face them.....The two riders, SURE that this was nothing more than a match race went right after each other in a sea of mud thinking there were no others in the race. Someone forgot to tell Jim Dandy who's last win had been on a track just like they were skipping over. He past the tired duo and went on to win at 100/1 as the two riders could only flog their mounts to run second and third. It was too much for Whicheone who never raced again. Lesson: NOTHING is a sure thing as this video chronicles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRIrN8AibSY
