Tanda and jockey Alex Solis rallied along the rail at the top of the
stretch and kicked away from the field for a 4½-length victory in the
$100,000 Santa Paula Stakes on Sunday at Santa Anita.
The longest
shot in a field of five 3-year-old fillies, Tanda was fourth in the
early going and third coming out of the turn, but Solis found an
opening inside and finished with a commanding stretch run, covering 6½
furlongs in a stakes record of 1:14.36.
