With
the 2011 Breeders’ Cup in the books, Hollywood Park kicks off the year’s final
major race meet on Thursday, and TVG, America’s Horseracing Network, will be on
site at the Los Angeles track to present exclusive coverage.
On tap at Hollywood is 26 days of racing
spread over six weeks, with action scheduled from Thursday-Sunday during the
first four weeks and Wednesday-Sunday for the final fortnight. On the first two
Friday’s racing will be conducted under the lights with a pair of 7:05 p.m. PT first
post cards. The proceedings conclude on December 18.
As per tradition, the meet’s signature
event will be the Thanksgiving weekend’s Hollywood Turf Festival, which features
seven graded stakes, including a pair of Grade I contests, the Matriarch and
Hollywood Derby. In total, the meet offers 12 graded races, including five
Grade I events, with the Hollywood Turf Cup, Hollywood Starlet and CashCall
Futurity rounding out the Grade I slate.
“The Hollywood Park fall meet
traditionally puts a cap on the racing season, often deciding several Eclipse
Award categories,” said Tony Allevato, TVG executive vice president. “Viewers
can count on TVG to deliver all the action and excitement that the meet will
present.”
