TVG,
America’s horseracing network, will present exclusive, live coverage of the
Breeders’ Cup Marathon. This marks the first time a Breeders’ Cup race will air
live on TVG, or on any network other than the primary Breeders’ Cup
broadcaster.
The 1 ¾-mile race, a Grade II, $500,000
contest in its fourth renewal, is scheduled for 1:20 p.m., Saturday, November 5,
and will air as part of the Breeders’ Cup Players’ Show presented by TVG. That
day’s show will air from noon-8:00 p.m. ET. On Friday, November 4, the Breeders’
Cup Players’ Show presented by TVG will air from 2:00-8:00 p.m. ET, bringing
the two-day total to 14 hours.
The Breeders’ Cup Marathon will
also air on FSN West.
“This is a milestone for our network,”
said TVG president and CEO Stephen Burn. “During the12 years we have been on
the air we have broadcast many of racing’s premier events both in the U.S. and
internationally, airing a Breeders’ Cup race is a pinnacle moment.”
Working on the Breeders’ Cup Players’
Shows presented by TVG will be a full complement of TVG on-air talent
positioned trackside at Louisville’s Churchill Downs. Included will be hosts
Todd Schrupp and Christina Olivares, analysts Simon Bray, Matt Carothers, Tom
Amoss and Paul LoDuca, European racing analyst Graham Cunningham and reporter
Jill Byrne.
In addition to airing on TVG, the
Breeders’ Cup Players’ Shows presented by TVG will also be broadcast at Breeders’
Cup domestic and international simulcast locations.
“We are excited to partner with Breeders’
Cup in airing the Breeders’ Cup Marathon and the Breeders’ Cup Players’ Shows
presented by TVG, and once again play an integral role in racing’s championship
event,” said Tony Allevato, TVG’s executive vice president.
