In recognition of October’s designation as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, TVG,
America’s Horseracing Network, will partner with Susan G. Komen for the Cure,
the nation’s largest breast cancer organization, for a multiplatform breast
cancer educational and awareness program.
Kicking off on October 5 and continuing
throughout the month, TVG will support breast cancer awareness both online and
on-air via an educational campaign and with a donation to Susan G. Komen. The
campaign’s primary goals are to provide a better understanding of breast cancer
and encourage TVG customers, viewers and racing fans to get involved in the
cause.
“TVG has a strong sense of community
social responsibility, and this campaign exemplifies that,” said Don Scott,
Vice President of Marketing at TVG. “Breast cancer has touched millions of people, including
those affiliated with the horseracing industry, and we look forward to
encouraging our fans to become involved with an organization whose mission is
to fight the disease.”
As part of the campaign, TVG will create
a special breast cancer awareness information page that will link to Komen’s
website. The page will provide basic facts about breast cancer, invite cancer
survivors or co-survivors to share their stories and ask people to make a
donation.
To help reinforce the campaign, TVG’s
logo will transform from green to pink and TVG on-air talent will wear pink
ribbons. There also will be an internal employee breast cancer awareness
celebration.
While the campaign will formally conclude
on October 31 when TVG delivers a $10,000 donation to Komen in a televised
presentation, people will be inspired to continue supporting the cause on a
continuing basis.
