Buongiorno A Tutti Stable’s 4-year-old filly Sweet Repent
breezed an easy six furlongs in 1:16 4/5 at Calder Race Course Friday morning
for trainer Dave Braddy as she is kept on edge for her next engagement in the
$300,000 Sunshine Millions Distaff at Gulfstream Park on Sat., Jan. 30.
The Florida-bred daughter of Repent will bid for her fifth
consecutive victory in the 1 1/8 miles test, most recently posting a
hard-fought nose victory over Marilyn Seltzer’s Amazing in the $100,000 Stage
Door Betty Handicap (G3) at Calder on Dec. 26.
Sweet Repent’s streak began with a nose victory in a Calder
allowance race on Aug. 28. She then scored another narrow victory by a nose in
the $75,000 Judy’s Red Shoes Stakes on Sept. 26, and a 3 ¼ lengths romp over
Farnsworth Stable’s favored Jessica Is Back in the $400,000 Elmer Heubeck
Distaff Handicap on Nov. 14 before the Stage Door Betty.
Both Amazing and Jessica Is Back are expected to challenge
Sweet Repent again in the Sunshine Millions. California-based trainer Jerry
Hollendorfer, Bob Baffert, Vladimir Cerin, Richard Mandella and Darrell Vienna
each have nominees eligible for the race.
