Alabama Day Recap + Aug 17 Preview

Stopchargingmaria won the Coaching Club American Oaks at Saratoga on July 20 and made it a sweep of the big Grade 1 races around two turns for 3-year-old fillies with a game victory in Saturday’s Alabama Stakes.

Earlier on the card, Royal Delta’s baby sister Crown Queen captured the Grade 2 Lake Placid for trainer Bill Mott.

Sunday’s Pick 6 from Saratoga Race Course begins in the 6th race and includes four turf races.

The feature race is the Grade 1 Sword Dancer for 3-year-olds and up traveling a mile and a half on the inner turf course. Morning line favorite Main Sequence goes for back-to-back Grade 1 scores in the U.S. for Graham Motion. He is joined in the gate by quality rivals Amira’s Prince, Imagining, War Dancer, and Twilight Eclipse.
