Sum of the Parts Repeats in Phoenix

Klaravich Stables and William Lawrence’s Sum of the Parts earned a spot in the starting gate for the $1.5 million Breeders’ Cup Xpressbet Sprint (G1) with a repeat victory in the $200,000 Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix (G3).

Trained by Tom Amoss and ridden by Leandro Goncalves, Sum of the Parts held off Laugh Track by 1¼ lengths and covered the six furlongs on the main track in 1:09.56. The victory was worth $120,000 and increased Sum of the Part’s earnings to $716,513 with a record of 15-6-2-0. Sum of the Parts is undefeated in three starts on Keeneland’s main track.

Sum of the Parts was first out of the gate in the field of 12 and was pressured early by Jasizzle through a first quarter-mile in :22.51. Go Blue Or Go Home took up the chase on the far turn but never could get by the leader who held off the late charge of Laugh Track to prevail.

Sum of the Parts is a 4-year-old Kentucky-bred son of Speightstown out of the Slew’s Royalty mare Enjoy the Moment.

Sum of the Parts returned $27.20, $12.60 and $6.80. Laugh Track, ridden by Miguel Mena, returned $10.80 and $6.80 with Go Blue Or Go Home, ridden by Paco Lopez, finishing a head back in third and returning $5.40 to show.

Favored Gentlemen’s Bet finished a half-length back in fourth and was followed in order by Occasional View, Marchman, Laurie’s Rocket, Reload, Hoofit (NZ), Winning Cause, Ghost Is Clear and Jasizzle.
