Blushu Stable and Summergrove Farm’s Street Serenade
pressed the pace most of the way down the backstretch, gained the advantage approaching the lane and drew clear late to win Friday’s $47,000 allowance feature at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots by two lengths.
Trained by Andy McKeever and ridden by James Graham, the son of Street Sense returned mutuels of $6.40, $3.80 and $3.20, toured the mile and 70 yard-distance in 1:44.30 and increased his career earnings to $66,070 with his second victory in seven lifetime starts.
Charles Matses’ Scat About came up to challenge outside the winner at the furlong grounds, could not stay with that one but was easily second best, finishing 4 3/4-lengths in front of Parting Glass Racing’s Bluffalatta, who recorded early splits of 24.18 and 48.22 before weakening along the inside in the final furlong.
Scat About paid $4.60 and $3.40 in the second spot, while Bluffatta returned $3.60 to show.
