Taking advantage of a contested pace, Streamline Baby earned
her first win in Southern California in the $52,800 allowance feature Thursday
at Hollywood Park.
Kept in the clear by jockey Brice Blanc as she began her
rally, the 2-1 favorite collared 7-1 shot Reddy Go Jaylo in the final sixteenth
en route to a one length win in a race restricted to California bred fillies
and mares.
Trained by Darrell Vienna for a partnership that includes
breeder Charlotte Wrather, the 4-year-old Ferrari filly out of the Fruition
mare Deep Intrigue won for the second time in seven starts. The $31,200 payday
pushed her earnings to $74,220.
Winless in five previous races in this portion of the state,
Streamline Baby had collected her maiden win May 31, 2010 at Golden Gate
Fields.
Ridden by Brice Blanc, Streamline Baby completed the 1 1/16
miles on turf in 1:42.79. She paid $6, $3.40 and $2.60 as the 2-1 favorite.
Making her first appearance against winners after defeating
$50,000 maidens April 15 at Santa Anita, Reddy Go Jaylo paid $7 and $3.40. The
show price on Donner Wasser, who was involved in a pace battle with Subpoena
the Dress and Mavicsa, was $3. She finished 5 ¼ lengths behind Reddy Go Jaylo
while a head better than Tribal Beauty.
Completing the order of finish were Burton’s Angel, Subpoena the Dress and
Mavicsa.
Earlier in the afternoon, trainer William Gregory earned the
first win of his career when 4-1 shot Charlie’sboywins came from last to prevail
by a neck in a $40,000 maiden claimer for California breds.
Gregory bred and owns the 4-year-old gelded son of Fruition
out of the Ole’ mare Spanish Gypsy with wife Nancy. Kerwin John rode
Charlie’sboywins, who was making his seventh start Thursday.
Racing resumes Friday. Post time is 7:05 p.m.
At the conclusion of the eight race program – approximately
10:30 p.m. – a concert starring Rose Royce will begin at the North
Park.
