Star Guitar can add to his local legend on Saturday night at Delta
Downs when he tries for a third consecutive victory in the Premier Night
Championship Stakes, the marquee race on the Premier Night card for
Louisiana-breds.
The Quiet American horse will make his six-year-old debut for trainer
Al Stall Jr. and owner-breeder Brittlyn Stable. Star Guitar will be
gunning for his 14th career stakes victory in the 1 1/16-mile race.
He won the 2009 and 2010 editions of the Premier Night Championship,
winning the latter by 3¼ lengths as the 3-to-10 favorite. Star Guitar
has won three of his last four starts, most recently the Louisiana
Champions Day Classic Stakes on December 11 at Fair Grounds.
Among those facing Star Guitar include the last horse to beat him,
Heiligbrodt Racing Stable’s homebred Snug. The six-year-old Swamp
gelding won the Gold Cup Stakes on November 5 at Delta Downs, a race in
which Star Guitar finished fourth. He enters off a narrow victory in a
one-mile optional claiming race on January 7 at Delta Downs.
