Melodee Hicks’s Spiteful Gypsy grabbed command quickly after the start and never looked back in winning the $80,000 allowance feature at Monmouth Park on Friday by two lengths.

Trained by David Fawkes and ridden by Jose Valdivia Jr., Spiteful Gypsy stopped the timer in :55 4/5 for five furlongs over firm turf. The winner paid $18.20, $8.60 and $5.20. Perfect Bluff completed the $80.80 exacta and paid $4.20 and $2.80. It was another length back to Wardelle, who returned $3.60 to show.

The Friday feature victory marked the third in four starts for Spiteful Gypsy, who was making her first start in 2010. The 3-year-old filly by Speightstown from the Leo Castelli mare Leo’s Gypsy Dancer has now earned $77,160 for her connections.
