Champion Speightstown, who currently ranks among the nation’s
leading third-crop sires, is recovering after colic surgery on Thursday.
According to officials at WinStar Farm, where the 12-year-old by
Gone West out of Silken Cat, by Storm Cat, stands for $35,000,
Speightstown exhibited signs of colic while in his stall on Thursday.
He was sent to Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, where he underwent
successful surgery to correct a large colon torsion.
