Daniel Family Farms’ Skipping Town
proved to be no disappointment to those who backed her down to even money
favoritism in Sunday’s $44,000 feature for fillies and mares at about seven and
a half furlongs over the Stall Wilson turf course when she drew clear in the
final furlong to post a 2 1/4-length victory.
The accredited Louisiana-bred daughter of Leestown,
trained by Sam Ishaq and ridden by Shaun Bridgmohan, pressed the
early pace, took command in upper stretch and increased her margin the rest of
the way.
Skipping Town returned mutuels of $4, $3 and $2.60,
accomplished the distance over the course rated firm in 1:34.15 and increased
her career earnings to $101,400 with her fourth victory in 10 lifetime starts.
Brittlyn Stable’s Miss Bean Wah, void of early foot,
rallied late to gain the place finishing three-quarters of a length to the good
of Bellamy Stable’s Jami Baby.
Miss Bean Wah paid $5.60 and $3.60, while Jami Baby
returned $7.60 to show.
Oakwood Stable’s Dominic’s Dancer made the pace with
splits of 25.79 and 49.69 before tiring to finish eighth.
Racing resumes Monday at Fair Grounds with a nine-race
program beginning at 1:10 p.m.
