The $75,000, 1 1/8-mile Evan Shipman for New York-breds on
Monday, July 26 is expected to be the next stop for Albert Fried Jr.’s Giant
Moon. The race will be the first start in Saratoga for the 5-year-old son of Giant’s
Causeway, who has been sidelined by foot problems for much of his career.
Giant Moon is 1-1-0 from three starts this year and trainer Richard Schosberg
is pleased with the horse’s progress.
“He really is doing great,” Schosberg said outside of his Belmont barn Friday
morning. “He’s very serious when he goes to the track to train, and he’s
just sharp right now.”
Schosberg said Giant Moon would likely work Monday and ship
to Saratoga on
Tuesday.
Also expected for the Evan Shipman are Groomedforvictory,
Icabad Crane, Naughty New Yorker and Ruffino.
Manteca,
Mighty Morris and Slevin are possible for the
race according to NYRA Stakes Coordinator Andrew Byrnes.
