Saratoga jockeys will be in full voice on Monday, August 22, when they take the stage at Vapors Night Club at Saratoga Casino and Raceway for “Riders Up,” an evening of jockey karaoke, dinner and dancing to benefit the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF).

The question is will it be a local version of “America’s Got Talent” or a rendition of the 70’s and 80’s laugh fest “The Gong Show?”

“I can tell you from experience it will be entertaining.  Very entertaining,” said Nancy LaSala, President of the Board of the PDJF.   “This event has been held before at Keeneland during the Spring Meeting.  It’s been a great event there and I’m sure it will provide a great night out with a lot of laughs at Saratoga and all for a great cause.”

The master of ceremonies for the evening is Tom Durkin and a celebrity panel will serve as judges for the karaoke contest.

Jockeys expected to attend and participate include John Velazquez, Ramon Dominguez, Javier Castellano, Rajiv Maragh. Kent Desormeaux, Alex Solis, Edgar Prado, David Cohen, Alan Garcia, Jorge Chavez, Maylan Studart, Robby Albarado, Julien Leparoux and many others along with 2010 winner Dean Mernagh.

Tickets for the event, which runs from 6:00-11:p.m., are $100 which includes buffet dinner, jockey karaoke and karaoke/dancing after the show.  A cash bar will be available.

All proceeds will benefit the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund, a 501(c)3 public charity.

Vapors is located in the Saratoga Casino and Raceway at 342 Jefferson St. in Saratoga Springs.  Only persons 21 or older may enter the premises.
