Santiva Retired; Breeding Plans Undecided

Santiva, a grade II-winning son of Giant's Causeway, has been retired from racing because of ankle issues. Breeding plans are undecided for the 4-year-old colt.

Santiva broke his maiden in the 2010 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (gr. II) at 1 1/16 miles at Churchill Downs, becoming the first son of Giant’s Causeway to win a graded stakes at 2 going two turns on dirt. In his previous race, he finished second in the Dixiana Breeders’ Futurity (gr. I) at Keeneland.

At 3, Santiva ran second in the Risen Stakes Stakes (gr. II) and finished sixth in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) in a 19-horse field.
