Santa Anita Through the Lens of a Camera

Mucho Macho Man wins the 2013 Awesome Again Stakes at Santa Anita

Once I learned that Mucho Macho Man was going to be racing in the Awesome Again Stakes at Santa Anita I knew I had to go watch. Rather than writing a recap of my day as a spectator of 5 grade 1 races, I decided to rent a fancy camera lens and let everyone see the day as I did.

Running between the paddock and the track each race at Santa Anita is tough work. I took a water break during the FrontRunner Stakes, so unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures.

the ASA used to limit you, you had to have the correct filter, you did not get to see your work until it was processed, temperature extremes caused trouble, lens changes, power winders, test flashes etc
aren't today's cameras the greatest?

All great photos, but that head shot of Joyful Victory takes the cake for me.
Awesome pics and my favorite is Paynter smiling. He's such a good boy!.
Great photos, and I have to say Frank Stronach has taken a lot of criticism in the past, including from me, but the improvements he has made in the Clubhouse area are great! He is at least trying to make the track experience better for the fans. Also the track was playing much more fair this weekend, horses were winning from off the pace unlike when the dirt surface was first put in. This will be a great Breeders Cup and unless they change the track Breeders Cup weekend, which sometimes happens, it will be a fair track.
Great work, Matt ... looks like you had a great time!
Beautiful photos, Matt! I enjoyed them all. Great job!
You know I'm enthralled with the Mucho pictures. Fantastic photos all around!
Paynter's smile and Mucho Macho Man's "game face" were the best ones :).
Matt, you're very talented with the lens. I feel like I was there. Thanks for these.
Love it!
Very nice photos!
Paynters smile is gorgeous
