Roan Inish rallies to Win Woodbine Oaks

In just one year as a trainer, 28-year-old Carolyn Costigan has learned almost a lifetime of horse racing knowledge.


That education came to fruition yesterday at Woodbine when Costigan sent out her father Robert’s filly Roan Inish to win the $500,000 Woodbine Oaks, the most important race for Canadian-foaled 3-year-old fillies.


And as long as the filly exits her narrow, gritty win over Moment of Majesty, owned by former NHL goalie Curtis Joseph, in good shape it will be on to the July 4 Queen’s Plate against the boys.
