Jockey Mike Luzzi is featured in the fifth installment of NYRA’s newest video
series “Riders Up,” now available on demand at http://www.nyra.com/ridersup/index.shtml.
The series provides fans with a comprehensive look at
the riders on the NYRA circuit, from the perspective of trainers, owners, and,
of course, the jockeys themselves as they discuss their motivations and thoughts
on riding in New
York.
“The Luz,” a Delaware native, comes from a family of
horsemen and is a veteran on the NYRA circuit. A year-round New York rider, Luzzi
discusses his commitment to family, lighthearted relationship with fans, and
desire to be considered a skilled, hardworking rider. Trainer Bruce Levine, who
has ridden Luzzi for many years, weighs in on the jockey’s calm, collected style
in stakes races.
The “Riders Up” videos can be viewed online at http://www.nyra.com/ridersup/index.shtml
and also on NYRA’s YouTube page.
“Riders Up” joins “Spotlight Series,” a behind the
scenes look at the people who help NYRA racing operate smoothly on a consistent
basis, “Backstretch Buzz,” in which jockeys and trainers share their thoughts on
topical events and news stories concerning thoroughbred racing, “Jockey Video
Cards,” up-close-and-personal interviews with NYRA’s leading jockeys, and “On
the Record,” candid conversations with some of New York’s most renowned
trainers, as the latest in popular on-demand videos available on
NYRA.com.
