Reneesgotzip, one of the fastest fillies of recent years on the West Coast, will put her brilliant speed on display versus four rivals Sunday in the Grade III $150,000 Rancho Bernardo Handicap at 6 ½ furlongs for older fillies and mares.

Highweighted at 120 pounds and the 4-5 morning line choice, Reneesgotzip comes into the Rancho Bernardo fresh from a sterling performance in which she scored by more than five lengths in 1:09.40 for six furlongs, winning in typical front-running style in her first outing since December of last year.

Garrett Gomez has the call from trainer Peter Miller on Reneesgotzip, who won the restricted CERF Stakes as a three-year-old at Del Mar.

Seeking to upset Reneesgotzip  will be Winding Way and Sugarinthemorning, first and second in the 2012 Rancho Bernardo, separated by only a half-length. Rafael Bejarano rides Winding Way, while Gary Stevens will climb aboard Sugarinthemorning.

Completing the line-up are Curvy Cat, third to Reneesgotzip recently, and Sweet Marini, victress in the Fleet Treat Stakes for California-breds July 27.  Corey Nakatani rides Curvy Cat, with Martin Garcia returning astride Sweet Marini.

Supporting feature on the Sunday program is the $150,000 Solana Beach Handicap for California-bred fillies and mares at one mile on the infield Jimmy Durante Turf Course.

Carrying highweight of 125 in a field of seven runners will be the 2012 Solana Beach winner Halo Dolly, to be ridden by Bejarano. Heading the opposition will be Unusual Hottie, 123 pounds and Joe Talamo. She was  beaten a neck in the recent Osunitas Stakes. Others in the field are Qiaona, Gomez; Heat Trap, Victor Espinoza; Bella Viaggia, Stevens; Spring Bloom, Nakatani, and Warren’s Flasher, Julian Leparoux.

The Rancho Bernardo ’Cap will occupy the fourth race spot on the ten-race program, while the Solana Beach is carded as the eighth race. Post time for the first race is 2 p.m.
