Concerns about Regal Ransom's readiness coming into the $750,000 Super Derby (gr. II) proved inconsequential when the well-bred Godolphin colt rolled to a front-running victory at Louisiana Downs Sept. 19.

The 30th running of the Super Derby turned out to be over early when the 13-10 favorite Regal Ransom bounded away to an effortless lead while posting pedestrian fractions. Asked for a bit of run at the top of the stretch, the son of Distorted HumorKelli's Ransom (by Red Ransom) was quickly long gone, opening up a five-length lead approaching mid-stretch.

I think both Blame and Regal Ransom have big futures.
Soul Warrior was definitely overrated. Prelude runners frequently struggle. No pace allowed Regal Ransom to stroll home. Blame was clearly 2nd best and is a future graded winner. Massone ran his usual solid race to land the show.
Congrats to RR. Soul Warrior was overrated. I knew he wouldn't be up. The prelude runners didn't do well. I thought Red Lead and Electric Alphabet will be up there, but they couldn't handled the strong pace.
Nice effort by Regal Ransom in the Super Derby. Race was over after 1/2 in :49. Blame was clearly 2nd best in a fine effort, and the top two quality colts should continue to progress.
