Four races are under consideration for the next start of reigning Horse of the Year RACHEL ALEXANDRA (Medaglia d'Oro), majority owner Jess Jackson said in a statement released Tuesday. The four races, all scheduled for June 12, are the $600,000 Stephen Foster H. (G1) and $200,000 Fleur de Lis H. (G2) at Churchill Downs; the $250,000 Ogden Phipps H. (G1) at Belmont Park; and the $150,000 Obeah S. (G3) at Delaware Park.

The Stephen Foster is the only race of the four not restricted to fillies and mares, while the 1 1/16-mile Ogden Phipps is the only one not run at 1 1/8 miles. Rachel Alexandra has won stakes at both Churchill Downs and Belmont Park, but has never competed at Delaware Park. The Obeah is the major local prep for the $750,000 Delaware H. (G2) over 1 1/4 miles on July 17.

I agree Mistique1990. I also want to see Rachel win again. As racing fans we should be grateful that Rachel and Zenyatta are still running and not off to the breeding shed.
  • mistique1990 · good point. i have watched her races over and over and over i dont get tired of watching her win. shes amazing. if something were to happen too her i would freak out! accidents happen if a horse gets pushed to win too much. she is a machine and it take a while too get a big machine to warm up but once she is, Watch out! :) · 1913 days ago
I hope she wins. I am wishing she starts winning again. And goes too the Breeders cup classic. Which i know wont happen. You Go girl
Not to nitpick... but is this the all-time ducking move or what? Sure, they mention the Foster, but they've also highlighted a day with three graded stakes in the same division. That's sure to water down all three of these fields. Plus, by announcing their plans, they give other owner/trainers a chance to avoid her. If they duck her in NY or KY, she'll run there. If nobody ducks her and those are tough, she'll go to Delaware. There's no way they want to chance her getting beat again.
I would like to see Rachel at Delaware Park in the June 12 Obeah (G3). DelPark is only an hour away so pick that spot Jess Jackson, lol.
