R Heat Lightning Ready for Oaks

R Heat Lightning

R Heat Lightning completed her Kentucky Oaks preparations on Saturday with a good looking four furlong breeze under the Twin Spires.

The likely Oaks favorite completed her morning move in :48.20, which was 7th best of 60 works at the distance. Saturday's breeze was her second drill at Churchill Downs and third overall since easily winning the Gulfstream Oaks on April 2.

Other Oaks contenders works at Churchill for Saturday: Kathmanblu (5f – 1:01.80), Lilacs And Lace (5f – 1:02.60), Niji’s Grand Girl (5f – 1:02), Summer Soiree (4f - :48.80).

At Hollywood Park on April 30, Zazu traveled seven furlongs in 1:24.40. Her last five works have been getting progressively longer, starting at four furlongs on March 28 and stretching to seven panels for her last two moves. She has not run since March 5 and needs her recent stamina building moves.

In other Oaks news, Arienza and Delightful Mary will not run. The former might go in the seven furlong Eight Belles on the Oaks undercard.
