HALLENDALE, FL.- FEBRUARY 28, 2009: John R. Velazquez rides Quality Road (VA) during the 63rd running of the Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth (Grade II) at Gulfstream Park in Hallendale Beach, FL. Trainer Todd Pletcher confirmed that Quality Road will return to the scene of his finest hour, Gulfstream Park, to open his 2010 campaign in the Grade 3 Hal's Hope Handicap on opening day, Jan. 3. Quality Road moved to the top of the 3-year-old division last spring with his impressive victory in the Grade 1 Florida Derby. Read More

What the Nation is saying about Quality Road aims for Hal's Hope...

With that said arazi, I am a fan of Quality Road, and I'm happy he's going to be back in the game soon. I still think we've yet to see the best out of him, although it seem's to me that Quality Road responded better to Jimmy Jerkins than he has Todd Pletcher. JMO. But he's still unproven at 1-1/4. I don't know how long the Hal's Hope Handicap is, but I do hope he get's that 1-1/4 monkey off of his back soon. If he ever does, and start's to build confidence, I think he'll be very tough to beat. JMO.
arazi, you're absolutely correct with that statement. He was complaining after Quality Road set the track record in the Florida Derby, and a couple more track record's had been broken that day. He made the comment that if he had known Gulfstream was going to be that fast he would've taken Dunkirk up north to Aqueduct I believe, for the Wood Memorial I'm assuming he was talking about. I doubt he would've fared much better there as I Want Revenge ran a great race in the Wood. Breaking very late, and then running down the field to win if you'll remember.
Wasn't that also Pletcher's non-so fine hour? Quality Road wired on the souped-up Gulfstream track, and Pletcher was bitching and moaning about the track as Dunkirk lost.
