Abit of a legend came to Shakopee on Saturday when the winningest jockey in Thoroughbred horse racing history took part in five races at Canterbury Park during the annual Claiming Crown event. First a winner in 1974 aboard Oregon Warrior -- trained by his father Joe -- Russell Baze has won more than 10,600 races. He's raced in two Kentucky Derbies, once won seven times in a single day (in 1992) and was inducted into the Thoroughbred racing hall of fame in 1999. Read More

russell is da man in norcal tb racing. only martin garcia and aaron gryder (currently) have given him a run for his money.
its not a closed shop as these guys are all independent contractors.
why isnt RUSSEL BAZE in the JOCKEYS GULILD ???
