Definitely passes the Derby Stress Test. Running lines look more like Eight Belles'. The latter also prepped in races no longer than 1 1/16th and put in a sharp work before the Derby.
Big shot... but he's had wonderful trip after wonderful trip.
Larry Jones did drill Friesan Fire and Hard Spun in similar fashion. Hard Spun tried to pull off a wire job in the Derby...deja vu all over again?
Friesan Fire's quick work in :57 4/5 is reminiscient of Hard Spun's huge work Derby week... and he fired pretty strongly...
I had the privilege to watch Larry Jones and his horses train and race at the Fair Grounds. Believe me, about 6:30 p.m on May 2, Friesan Fire, the horse that no one knows how to pronounce or spell correctly will be a household word after he wins the Kentucky Derby for a most deserved trainer and his lovely wife. horseracingofcourse.com
