Positive Response Headlines Large Spiral Field

Positive Response tries to win his second straight local stakes when he takes on eleven rivals in Saturday's Grade 3 Vinery Racing Spiral Stakes at Turfway Park.

The likely favorite began his career in the maiden claiming ranks at Woodbine before being transferred to the Northern California barn of William Morey. He thrived at Golden Gate Fields, winning a pair of minor stakes and landing the show in the Grade 3 El Camino Real Derby. His conections had this race in mind when they shipped here for the Battaglia Memorial, a race he easily captured in wire-to-wire fashion on March 5. Julien Couton takes his usual seat aboard the overacheiving gelded son of Pomeroy.

Decisive Moment should offer a pace challenge at the very least. The Delta Jackpot place finisher went all the way in the Jan 14 Jean Lafitte before fading to 5th in the Grade 2 Risen Star. This will be his first attempt over an all-weather surface.

King Congie crossed the line first in his last two route stakes tries including the Tropical Park Derby at this distance on Jan 1. He owns positional speed and is a threat if he handles the footing.

Animal Kingdom looks interesting for Graham Motion. He ran well in two Polytrack races last fall and earned a decent number in his flat mile turf return at Gulfstream. The versatile colt sports a turf bullet for this engagement.

Preachintothedevil is a consistent NY-bred for Gary Contessa. He was last seen running 3rd in the Feb 5 Whirlaway and this is his first try over synthetic footing.

Thirtyfirstreet handled Hollywood Park's Cushion Track in his first two tries and captured a CA-bred extended sprint stakes race on opening day at Santa Anita. The Doug O'Neill charge rallied to finish a non-threatening 4th in the Grade 2 Robert Lewis Stakes last time and will try to get involved in the late going here.

Twinspired bobbled at the start and raced wide in the Battaglia. He figures to get more pace help this time and can be in the mix if able to run back to romping local stakes win on Feb 5.

Glint stretches out and will likely show speed from the outside post. He will be joined in the starting gate by Battaglia 2-3 finishers Taptowne and Son of Posse., along with Rescind The Trade and Beachcombing.

The Spiral Stakes will be contested at a mile and an eighth on Polytrack and goes as the 10th race on March 26.
