
Brass Hat, the gallant 10-year-old gelding who long has been a fan favorite at Churchill Downs, has been retired, announced trainer Buff Bradley and his dad, owner-breeder Fred Bradley.
Buff Bradley said in an email to friends and family that Brass Hat is in good health and had been galloping daily at Churchill “but recently does not appear to be as free moving as he was once.
“Both Fred and I knew this day would come and that probably Brass Hat's body would show signs of age before his mental attitude slowed down. We have no regrets and know how fortunate we have been to have foaled, raised and raced such a true racehorse.
