Plesa Sends Out Itsmyluckyday for Pegasus Breeze

Trainer Eddie Plesa Jr. sent Preakness runner-up Itsmyluckyday on a five furlong breeze in the mud on a rainy Friday morning at Monmouth Park.

“I was going to work him tomorrow,” Plesa said, “but the track was probably going to be worse with all the rain. Then I’d have to wait till Sunday and there’s no guarantee what shape it would be in then. It wasn’t bad this morning, so I decided to go ahead and work him now.”

A 3-year-old colt by Lawyer Ron, Itsmyluckyday went 1:01 1/5 in preparation for the Grade 3 Pegasus Stakes on June 16.  He was the only horse to work five furlongs this morning.

Itsmyluckyday is likely to face Verrazano, who trainer Todd Pletcher indicated would be aiming for the Pegasus.
