Patience, Rachel fans

With over sixty-five hundred entries submitted for their “Name Rachel’s Foal” contest, it’s no wonder that Stonestreet Farm is taking their time in announcing a winner. After all, this will be the first foal from one of the finest female horses ever to step on an American racetrack, as well as, being the result of the mating between the two horses (Rachel Alexandra and Curlin) who won three consecutive Horse of the Year awards from 2007-2009 … heady stuff indeed.

Since I receive so many questions about what the name will be, and when the announcement will be made, I decided to call on Stonestreet today. Here is what I learned:

“It will probably be early summer before the final decision is made - so feel free to let people know! We'll keep you in the loop.”

I know that’s not the answer we were all waiting for, but at least it is the absolute up-to-the-latest information.

Jess’s Dream, Preakness Promises, Vintner’s Legacy, Champion’s Vintage, Curlandra, Vintner's d'Oro and yes, even Buttery Pancakes … it would seem the possibilities are endless. Good luck to the decision makers on this important decision. In the meantime, I hope this new photo, courtesy of Stonestreet Farm, of Rachel and (insert your name choice here) grazing, keeps you happy for the time being.

What the Nation is saying about Patience, Rachel fans...

Agreed great name for a pony. The name is growing on me though I remember a horse Fried Eggs Over in the year of my Dad George etc. did not amount to much
I know, I always click "like" on Buttery Pancakes. That name is too good to not use for one's own personal horse, though. Imagine getting to pet the coat of Buttery Pancakes. Dad, where's the pony?
Buttery Pancakes has my vote and has for a while.
I'm just gonna refer to him as I do all beautiful foals......"Wish I Owned You"...... thats a good a name as any.
Buttery Pancakes is the one i put in contest. I hope you pick it because this really means to me. it does.a LOT.
I had friends win the golden ticket contest at Keeneland to visit Rachel and her colt. His barn name is Taco! He's a sweet cuddly little guy!
He's a special horse who needs a special name...Hope SS picks a good one!

Love her colt...he's such a beauty...
my suggestion was Vintner's Reserve
My Name is "JJs Wood Dubai" The owner and the race that put each horse in another echelon.
I like a name suggested "triple heat" but not sure how I feel about buttery pancakes
How about Ralin?
Rachel's Legacy <3
I kinda like Curlandra, although Buttery Pancakes is pretty amusing
lol! Thanks Brian. Buttery Pancakes is really growing on me.
I thinkt that the name of the colt should be Rachel's First Star or just Rachel's Star
