John Oxley purchased a Street Cry filly for $370,000 to top the sixth session of the Keeneland September
yearling sale on Sunday, but the market correction continued with steep
declines across the board at the Lexington auction.
Keeneland reported 255 yearlings from 365 offered as sold for
$14,843,000, a 45.2% decline compared with $27,096,500 in total sales
at last year’s corresponding session. Average price declined by 36.4%
to $58,208, and median was down 35.7% to $45,000.
The buy-back rate was 30.1%, compared with 21.5% on day six last year.
