Overflow Field Entered for Alcibiades

An overflow field of 16 was entered Tuesday morning for Friday’s 61st running of the $400,000 Darley Alcibiades (G1) for 2-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles on the main track. The Darley Alcibiades is the first of five Grade 1 contests to be run during Fall Stars Weekend that kicks off Keeneland’s 17-day Fall Meet that runs through October 27.

The Darley Alcibiades is a “Win and You’re In” race for the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Grey Goose Juvenile Fillies (G1) to be run November 2 at Santa Anita. The Darley Alcibiades is the ninth race on a 10-race card with a 5:21 p.m. (ET) post time. First post on Friday is 1:05 p.m.

Three multiple winners in the field are led by two-time Calder stakes winner Rose to Gold. Owned by Kathleen Amaya and Raffaele Centofanti, Rose to Gold won the one-mile Lindsay Frolic by 13 lengths on August 25 and came back three weeks later to win the Brave Raj at a mile and 70 yards by 13½ lengths.

Sal Santoro trains Rose to Gold, who will be ridden by Jesus Rios from post position three.

Dolphus Morrison’s undefeated homebred graded stakes winner Gold Edge won the Arlington-Washington Lassie (G3) in her most recent start. Trained by Lon Wiggins, Gold Edge will break from post position seven under Chris Emigh.

Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Gary Barber and Debmar Stables’ Tara From the Cape, a winner of two of three starts that includes a score in the Tuck Greene Memorial at Delaware Park, will attempt to give trainer Todd Pletcher his first victory in the Darley Alcibiades. Ramon Dominguez has the riding assignment on Tara From the Cape, who will break from post position 10.

The field for the Darley Alcibiades, from the rail out, is as follows: Pure Indy (Victor Espinoza), Kitten’s Dumplings (Javier Castellano), Rose to Gold (Jesus Rios), Almost an Angel (Elvis Trujillo), Fully Living (David Cohen), Broken Spell (Rajiv Maragh), Gold Edge (Chris Emigh), La Song (Jeffrey Sanchez), Spring in the Air (Patrick Husbands), Tara From the Cape (Ramon Dominguez), Skyfall (John Velazquez), Speedinthruthecity (Julien Leparoux), Magical Moon (Rosie Napravnik) and Dancinginthecircle (Robby Albarado). Also Eligible: Daar Zayed (James Graham) and Cloudy Vow (James Graham). All starters will carry 118 pounds.
