Orb Falls Flat

 by, Stephanie Glowzenski

After a now four race losing streak the striking son of Malibu Moon has fallen flat, according to fans.

The three year old colt of the Phipps and Janney stable bravely defeated a field of 19 horses with jockey Joel Rosario aboard in the Kentucky Derby. Two weeks later, Orb failed to mount a challenge in the Preakness, finishing fourth in the nine horse field.  The same resulted in the Belmont, as he finished a struggling third place finish. As the hopes of the next Triple Crown winner faded, the colt’s fans did the same.

Over recent months, Orb has faced various amounts of negative slurs of becoming ‘overrated’.

“That’s a ridiculous statement,” said jockey agent Ron Anderson. “The horse won the Kentucky Derby and that can never be taken away from him.”

Though not all race fans are against the bay colt.

"I wouldn’t say Orb is overrated now, he just could not live up to the incredible hype after his Kentucky Derby win." said Horse Racing Nation’s Brian Zipse.

With the Breeders' Cup approaching, the hype for Orb may increase.  As fans readily anticipate the 1 1/4 mile race, a win for Orb could put the colt back in the lime light, and give him a chance to win the Horse of the Year title.

AMino, glad y0u're back posting. I thought that maybe you cashed big and took off for some south sea island, like Kno Tiki. BTW, the plural spelling of potato is potatoes.
Potate is one of my all-time favorite verbs.
"You know what forget it. Just remove my comment". haters gonna hate, winners gonna win, potatoes gonna potate. mea culpa!
Dan Quayle's 'Potatoe' Incident – 1992 A minor slip-up by Vice President Dan Quayle hatched a frenzy and a long-running joke. Quayle led a spelling bee for sixth-grade students while visiting an elementary school in New Jersey in 1992. Working from an inaccurate flash card prepared by a teacher, he corrected William Figueroa, 12, when the child spelled "potato" on the blackboard – making the boy add an unnecessary "e" at the word's end. Quayle would never hear the end of it. The media assault for this goof was truly relentless. The young Figueroa crystallized the effects of this incident on Quayle's public image when he said that it "showed that the rumors about the vice president are true – that he's an idiot." Not you Laz, Dan.
Never believed in credit,Cash or i walk away. Knosk yourself out with the Coors.Just don't get classy on me and order the Krystal(lol)
Tom you said to put it on your tab? You of all people must know that having a Coors is like trying to eat a single potatoe chip. You can't stop at one. Hope your Visa is paid up.
I have no idea Blabs,Are you considered a member of the Posse????Made some calls on your boy Roman, not hearing anything. Usually Baffs boys are no brainers. Usually hear chatter. But then again,i may not be talking to the right guys.Where is Bluegrass when i need him.Sure he wasn't on the A.W.O.L trail with you.
Almost got up the down staircase, Casiguapo. Does the whole posse get Silver Bullets?
Ran good at 13-1 Laz to get 3rd. off a little poor and basically shut off down the stretch.Doubt would of beaten the winner with a cleaner trip.Horse needs to be outside.Poor start forced Alvarados hand ,to save ground.
I know he won that,it is when i first came on the site early this year.I told a couple of posters that these wer not preps, they were Graded races with big purses. They told me no.They were prep races to get ready for the KY. Derby. Now all of a sudden, they revert back to being G1s'. Go ahead ,have a Coors on me,put it on my tab.You earned it.Getting ready to watch JJ in the 8th #3 horse 11-1. need him win and took a flyer all-3 exacta
Fact. Tom you had my heart skipping there for a minute. I thought you were going to say I could have all the Coors I wanted. Fact, I think it is more like .00957%. Fact: we both missed a fact. Orb actually won the G1 Florida Derby too. So better get your facts straight fella or else Pompillious (Draynay’s biggest fan) is going to start spouting off more facts.
Laz. FACT- Orb ran against Vyjack as a 2yr old. Got beaten when Vyjack went off at something like 18-1. Fact-only G1 race Orb won(The Derby) is the race that 5 horses liked the conditions and the rest hated it. How ,can one then explain how horses that finished as much as 35 lengths behind Orb,come back 2 weeks later to either beat him or finish on even terms.Oh, i get it.It was that terrible mistake Joel made,he spent 20 yards of the trip on the so called dead rail. The same dead rail that Gary and Oxbow rode to Victory. Help me with my math Laz. 20 yds out of 1 3/16 ths of a mile. I believe that equals .0002345 percent. Just to make sure i am speaking the authors language.

Definately, you can also get it in whatever coor you want. I think our first order of buisiness is to identify who the remaining members of our Pose are. I haven't a clue. I would like to ask the author of that staement. But i am afraid i will get it in percentages. Then i would really be lost.
FACT, someone sure has a lot to say about nothing. Tom, seeing that I'm a member or your posse can I have my very own deputy badge? Please!
Laz,at first i thought the boring statistics gave me the biggest chuckle.Read the last sentence, you are now a full pledged member of my posse according to Papilon. With "Entourage" no longer on HBO. Maybe we can develop a script and mail in in to them for a new series. Since you were the only member that Papilon honored by identifying you. We will call the series >> LAZ.
Papillon, first of all.Do not ever put words in my mouth and say i hate the horse, last i herd he did not have a say in how his spacing and frequent running was mi managed. Secondly,i hope to god that you are either a CPA or a staistician in real life, you bore the hell out of me with irrelevant statistics. I do not hate Orb, I take issue when someone tries to make a Mountain out of a tiny hill. Chirp your stats all you want. My point is as follows.Preakness-Off the board at 3/5 / Belmont Stakes - an ugly non-threatening 3rd / Trvaers- a tiring 4t on the rail, visually was done at the eighth pole / Basically pulled up in the JCGC . Ran so bad, that Cross Traffic who forgot to answer the bell and got hurt still beat him. I hope the horse comes back next year, that said on one condition.Allow the Hall of Famer who is training him,to call the shots. Not the self serving owners who enjoyed their 15 minutes of fame after the Derby. A t the very worst, even if for some un explained reason he does not run.I can always amuse myself with your boring.tedious and irrelevant statistics you have now become famous for posting. In closing,do not ever flatter yourself by thinking your opinion of my thoughts has any meaning to me.That being said, you should feel the same way about my opinions towards your statistics.

correction: WTC has only strung together back to back win once. ps: those who defend orb aren't the ones employing mgical thinking--they are the only ones citing verifiable facts. to paraphrase a steven colbert--realty has an orb bias..
orb isn't running in the BCC, he's done for the year as per janey and shug. tmallios, that's a pretty long rant for someone who doesn't care. me thinks you protest to much...FACT: orb's win percentage on the year is 50%, WTC's is 44%, PM's is 22%. FACT: orb and PM are tied in their head to head; orb owns WTC in their head to head 3-1. FACT: orb may have only won one TC race, but so did PM' WTC charge won 0 TC races (and given his non-efforts in the preakness and the belmont, saying he would have won the derby but for verrazno is unsupportable). WTC's travers can onll be equal at most to their wins in in the TC, it can trump them, and in most cases the travers is less valued than any of the TC races. FACT: orb has had one non-effort in his life, WTC has had 3 this year alone. FACT: PM has 3 wins in 2 years; has had 5 this year alone. PM has never strung together wins, WTC has only done it 2x, and not in back to back G1s; orb did it 5 times--3 of which were graded stakes, and t2 of whiche were g1's. i could care less if you like the horse or hate the horse, but you certainly aren't indifferent about the horse. you never miss the opportunity to denigrate him. and as for the asinine the comparison to MTB, well then i guess you must be draynay reincarnated (there are plenty in your posse who know exactly who i'm talking about--lazmanick for one). cheers.
